If you are interested in becoming a guest artist (GA) for umin to make official adoptable designs, you may contact Auspice at any time. However, it is up to them whether or not they accept, which may depend on quality of work, number of active guest artists, and other factors.
Guest artist status is permanent unless there are violations of the guidelines, and only so long as the guest artist is a member of the Auspicium Discord server. If the artist leaves the server or becomes inactive, Auspice may remove GA status with or without notification.
A guest artist can make up to one batch a month. The timing is counted from when the batch opens for sale.
A guest artist cannot make additional batches if half or more of their last batch remain unsold.
Guest artists can choose to raffle their designs at any time.
Guest artists can claim the designs for themselves with a small ML processing fee (5 USD) to Auspice if they have not been claimed for one or more months.
Guest artist adopts will be advertised in the #adopt-postings channel of the server with a ping.
In order to apply, you must:
Join the Auspicium Discord server and access the umin-related parts of the server.
Have a Toyhouse account (invitations can be procured).
You must be able to create digital renditions of the umin masterlist images with good quality and accuracy to umin anatomy.
You should be at least somewhat active in the species, whether engaging with discussion, developing characters, completing prompts, etc.
You must have been in the Auspicium server for at least three months.
Please contact Auspice with examples of relevant design work to be considered. (If you have umin MYOs or designs you've made for others, these are most relevant. You can also submit unofficial concepts you have for MYOs and adopts.)
Once you are approved, you must complete a batch within 3 months. Your guest artist approvals will expire after 3 months of inactivity; if you are approved for multiple batches and more than 3 months pass before you make another, all your remaining approvals will expire. You must reapply if you wish to try again.
For each standard batch, you can make a maximum of:
8 standard
4 unusual (1 unusual trait each)
4 rare (1 unusual and 1 rare trait each)
2 anomalous (1 unusual, 1 rare, and 1 anomalous trait)
and 1 aberrant umin (1 aberrant trait, any number of traits at lower rarity)
If you wish, you can make a "batch" of just one anomalous umin, for example.
You can use a total of three extra traits of the highest rarity or lower on the entire batch.
If you want to use a base, you must use a new base for the batch. You can make it yourself or ask me to do so. You can also draw each umin separately.
The umin can be flat or rendered, but note that you must also provide the flat PNG. You can stylize the graphics and presentation as you wish, but try to minimize stylization of the umin anatomy (i.e. making them look chibi or distorting anatomy or such).
You may apply for a special batch. A special batch is one that does not follow the regular batch rules for traits, such as a batch of three anomalous umin or a batch with more than three extra traits. You are required to have completed a regular batch first, so you must have either been a guest artist previously or you must apply for at least two batches and do the regular one first. Note that Auspice may refuse or impose limitations.
It is recommended to price umin using this pricing system:
Base Prices (USD)
Standard: 14
Unusual: 20
Rare: 26
Anomalous: 32
Aberrant: 38+ (flexible)
Additions for extra traits
Add anomalous trait to anomalous tier: +4 or more USD
Add rare trait to rare or higher tier: +3 USD
Add unusual trait to unusual or higher tier: +2 USD
Complex markings: +1 to 10 USD
If you wish to deviate from this pricing, please ask Auspice.
Use of PayPal is preferred, but not required. Regardless of how you accept payment, you must pay Auspice using PayPal with real currency.
20% of the profits (calculated with the sale price of the umin) go to Auspice. Options for payment include:
A) Pay 20% of the total combined sale price of all umin in your batch to Auspice at any point.
B) Pay 20% of your current profits after at least half of the umin are sold and no more purchases have been made from the batch for 7 days. You can then pay Auspice the rest if the rest of the umin sell.
C) Pay 20% of your current profits after no more sales have been made after one month or more.
You are only required to pay Auspice if you have earned half or more of the batch value.
If you are approved as a guest artist, you must follow these steps. Please read them carefully and ask Auspice if there is any confusion.
For each step requiring Auspice's input, please send items in #guest-artist-lounge.
Request batch: ask Auspice to make a standard or special batch, describing any ideas you may have.
After Auspice approves, you can design the umin base and/or sketch for each unique design. Please send this to be approved.
Make the batch image. Please send the final image to be approved.
You can check any unusual traits with Auspice before submitting the batch for me to approve, though this is not necessary if you are fairly confident they will be fine.
Please indicate what traits you used for each umin; unusual traits do not really have "official" names so you can call them by whatever descriptive name you can think of.
Uploading. Note that this may be the most tedious part of the process.
Please create a Toyhou.se profile for every umin you create. Credit Auspice as the creator and yourself as the designer, and add the umin to the image of the batch in the species gallery. Please also upload the flat/transparent PNG to the profile. You can add watermarks if you wish, either directly or with Toyhouse's watermarking function.
Upload the batch image to st.ash or your preferred public social media, and give the link to Auspice.
It is up to you how you want to format the information, but please list what traits each umin has. You may also simply copy the format Auspice uses for my batches; here is an example.
Upload the batch image to Toyhouse.
Please add all the TH profiles of the umin you have made to the image. It may be easier to do this after you have created all the profiles, so you can add all the characters at the time of uploading the image. Please also add the image to Guest Artist Designs gallery; you can do this by adding another character by ID to the image, using the ID 12760580. You do not need to make a "character" for the batch unless you want to; you can simply upload the image to one of the umin and then add the rest.
Please send Auspice all the unwatermarked flat/transparent PNGs privately for the masterlist. You can send them directly on Discord, in a Google Drive folder, in a zip file, etc.
After all the uploading is done, Auspice will give you the approval to post.
Post the umin batch on your preferred public social media and notify Auspice, who will advertise the post in the #adopt-postings channel of the server with a ping.
When purchased, transfer the Toyhouse profiles of the relevant umin to the buyers. If they do not have a TH account, transfer the TH profile to Auspice. When umin are sold, please send an update to Umin ML Updates with the ML number and/or ID and a note that they have been sold. You can do this in batches or one at a time.
Pay Auspice the fees as described in the Financials section.
