Ecliptic Lore

Introduction

The Ecliptic exists in a modern world much like our own, where supernatural beings known as Entities operate in the shadows of society. At its core, this world is shaped by the eternal balance between Light and Darkness—not as forces of good and evil, but as complementary aspects of existence.

The Primal Essence of Light and Dark

• Light is an essence of healing, guidance, truth, and justice. It illuminates and reveals, but can also be blinding and merciless in its clarity.

• Darkness is an essence of safety, introspection, and hidden growth. It provides shelter and nurtures private development, but can also conceal both benevolence and malevolence.

The Four Types of Entities

• Angels: Born from Light itself, they guide souls toward ascension with clarity and purpose.

• Demons: Born from Darkness, they hunt corrupt souls and maintain balance through removal of corruption.

• Oscuraphim: Angels who have embraced Darkness while maintaining their Light, or rare beings born of twilight.

• Lumions: Demons who have accepted Light while keeping their Darkness, or rare beings born of twilight.

Together, the Oscuraphim and Lumions are known as "the Ecliptic," representing an in-between of Light and Dark.

The Four Planes

• The Plane of Light: Home to the Angelic "city" of Lux, filled with towers of radiant light.

• The Plane of Darkness: Location of the Demonic "city" of Umbra, built of shadowstone and eternal night.

• The Plane of Twilight: The realm between, where the Ecliptic make their home.

• The Physical Plane: the physical, mundane world.

The planes of Light, Darkness, and Twilight are the aether planes. They exist parallel to the physical world, interconnected yet separate.

The Nature of Souls

In the Ecliptic universe, souls seek ascension—a state of complete self-actualization where they become one with the universe's primal essence. However, souls can also become corrupt through acts that prevent self-actualization in themselves and others. These corrupt souls are hunted by Demons and the Ecliptic.

Modern Day

Today, Entities exist as myths and legends in human society, though their influence remains. While most humans live ordinary lives unaware of the supernatural, some rare individuals possess magical abilities and may even work with Entities. The three societies of Angels, Demons, and the Ecliptic maintain a delicate balance, working together while preserving their distinct roles in guiding the world's souls.
