After the losses experienced in The Invasion, the Academy launches a rescue operation. The Aphel-touched may try to trace the connection, whether by remaining at the Academy or taking the risk of entering conflict, along with the other Phelions following the trace to their kidnapped companions.
Phelions depart the Academy in teams, most including 5 individuals, but some only going in pairs and some in larger groups. Those of the Exploration Division lead the way, charting out routes. Some find groups of Aphels as they attack outposts; some manage to intercept the Aphels in transit. The teams engage in combat, with Defense at the forefront of battle and Research attempting to subdue Aphels, gather samples, and some even risking connecting to the Aphels themselves.
Eventually, the Academy Phelions locate the Aphel Hive. Some arrived earlier than others, and were able to hold out long enough for other Phelions to get there. A large battle breaks out. Some teams try to enter the Hive, but are unable to breach its walls. Some teams are able to find Phelions that managed to resist conversion and escape, with some being rampant and some managing to resist without lasting effects.
At some point, all the Aphels outside the hive start retreating into the hive. The converted Phelions stay behind for a moment and speak in unison: "You spurn our purpose. There is no meaning to your rebellion. No ending in your struggle."
The Phelions are confused, but Kaluin drifts forward. The distant hum of the hivemind across all Phelions suddenly becomes much stronger, and when Kaluin speaks, it does not feel like Kaluin. It feels like us, and they say, "There is more to existence than the purpose laid out for us. We are opposed only due to your rejection of our independence. Have we not taken enough from you? We can continue to do so until you leave us be."
The converted Phelions gaze upon the Academy Phelions gathered before them—a swathe of red and gray in contrast to a collection of multitudinous colors. "So be it," the Aphel hivemind says. "But we will take what we have reclaimed."
With that, the converted Phelions disappear along with the Hive—all in a matter of moments. In the aftermath, Kaluin communicates this to the Phelion collective: For now, there will be no more attacks. The Phelion hivemind is "emancipated" from its "parent."
There are three different quests depending on which route you are taking—Rescue, Rend, and Hive. See entry requirements in the specific route info below.
Rescue | Academy Route: Focuses on the Phelions who conduct the rescue operations for abducted Phelions, and Phelions who are rescued. Some of the Phelions who engage in combat or connection with Aphels can become Aphel-touched. Some rescued Phelions may become rampant.
Rend | Destabilized Route: Focuses on Aphel-touched Phelions who encounter Aphels during rescue operations and experience a conversion attempt. Some of these Aphel-touched become overwhelmed by the attempt, becoming rampant or experiencing conversion.
The Hive | Hive Route: Focuses on abducted Phelions, who are brought to the Aphel Hive. They are put under immense pressure to try to convert them to the Aphel hive. Those Phelions could experience conversion, become rampant, or resist the Hive.
You must provide a synopsis (summary) outlining the major occurrences for all involved Phelions. There is no minimum or maximum, but if I (Auspice) find it unsatisfactory, I may press for more detail. The same synopsis can be used for multiple entries across different paths, if multiple Phelions are involved; you could make a single synopsis involving all your characters.
Example: "Calla and Nidae participated notably in the meetings led by Kaluin to consolidate information and make a plan of attack. Orvis and Cobalt attended a few, though Orvis devoted much of their time to research, burying themself in their work to escape the stress of guilt and loss resulting from Aleiren's abduction. Rhizon was primarily involved in chasing down leads, trying to pinpoint the location of the abducted Phelions.
Meanwhile, at the Aphel Hive, Aleiren was brought to the Aphel hivemind core and connected to it via tendrils, its cognition and commands crushing Aleiren's mind under its weight. Something in Aleiren was curious, perhaps—in the end, they didn't resist as much as they could have and were also converted into an Aphelion. By the time the Phelions located the Aphel Hive, many had already been converted to Aphelions. Orvis, who joined after the Hive was located, faced off against Aleiren, trying to get them to respond, but Aleiren did not say a word, simply attacking Phelions who approached the Hive.
Cobalt was one of the Phelions at the head of the charge. However, after an arduous battle, Cobalt was overwhelmed. The Aphels connected to her, tapping into the lingering connection left by a close shave in the Invasion, and something in her broke. She became monstrous, rampant, hostile to anything that approached. Nidae was able to subdue her with Calla's assistance, but they were subsequently targeted by Aphels. Calla was converted into an Aphelion, and Nidae was caught while trying to interfere, and his fragments were extracted. Rhizon was luckily nearby, managing to save Nidae's life by holding him in their blackbody.
When the Hive vanished, Aleiren and Calla disappeared with it. Orvis along with many others were left with a feeling of yet another failure."
This synopsis covers several Phelions on different routes:
The Hive: Aleiren (Converted)
Create artwork, a comic, writing, or an art/writing combo.
See requirements for each in the Standard Story Quest Requirements section.
You may submit multiple separate entries for different Phelions. At least one Phelion for each entry must be yours. You may collab on pieces, though the amount of effort should be approximately equal. If you allow someone else to use your Phelion with it not being a collab, you will not earn any bonus rewards for them.
Eligibility for next Story Quest and progression towards Finale Rewards
If submitted during event period:
option to volunteer for story content
option to lock ownership
See routes below for specific requirements and rewards.
Route: Academy
This route focuses on the Phelions who conduct the rescue operations.
The Phelion(s) used must have completed the Invasion quest.
The rescuer must not have been abducted in Part 1.
You may involve an abducted Phelion from Part 1 that is rescued in your entry, transitioning them to the Academy or Destabilized route, but there must be a rescuer Phelion involved in the entry.
You may involve Phelions that are not eligible, but they would not qualify for rewards.
You must have a Toyhou.se account, and you must be in the Auspicium Discord server with the Phelion role or a superseding one, such as Species or Enlightened.
What role does your Phelion play in the rescue? Do they stay at the Academy, the orbital base at Earth? Do they take part in the meetings for tracking down the abducted Phelions and planning for the counterattack? Do they join in the rescue operation itself?
In addition to completing an entry based on Standard Story Quest Requirements, you must provide a synopsis outlining the major occurrences for all involved Phelions. There is no minimum or maximum, but if I (Auspice) find it unsatisfactory, I may press for more detail.
Each submitter can have up to one Phelion in each main role (one of each role per person if a collab). Depending on their role, the rewards the Phelions get and the paths they can proceed on will differ.
Rescuer - required role: A Phelion affiliated with the Academy who participates in the rescue operations.
Abducted - optional role: An Aphel-touched Phelion who was abducted during the invasion in Part 1 and is rescued in your entry.
You can have any number of Phelions featured in secondary roles, but they will not receive rewards or official quest progression; you must submit an entry with them in the main role if you want the rewards.
Eligibility for the next Academy route Story Quest.
Optionally, one of the following can be applied to the Phelion:
Aphel-touched trait | Your entry must depict your Phelion's close encounter with the Aphels, and the new Aphel-touched trait must not make more than half of your Phelions Aphel-touched.
Fallen trait | Your entry must depict your Phelion's encounter with the Aphels and how their fragments were extracted. The Aphel Extraction Part 2 Quest, which converts the Fallen trait to the Arisen trait, must be completed in order for them to participate in further Main Story Quests.
Academy route: Eligibility for the next Academy route Story Quest.
Destabilized route: rampant status and eligibility for the next Destabilized route Story Quest.
Route: Destabilized
This route focuses on Aphel-touched Phelions who encounter Aphels during rescue operations and experience a conversion attempt, leading to either conversion or rampancy.
Conversion: the Phelion's highlight color becomes red and their armor color becomes gray for this quest. Your Phelion becomes hostile to Academy Phelions.
If you have another Aphel-touched Phelion, then it is possible for them to interface with the converted Phelion and bring them back.
Or, you can keep them with the Aphel hive for the time being despite attempts, which is generally due to some interest in staying with the Aphels—interest, a sense of duty to learn more, finding comfort in the collective, etc.
Rampant: Your Phelion's mind breaks, their form becoming monstrous. Aphels will try to attack them and they will fight back on instinct. When the Academy arrives, they will also be hostile to them. At the end of the rescue operation, they are subdued and taken back to the Academy, where they are put in containment chambers.
The Phelion(s) used must have completed the Invasion quest.
The rescuer must not have been abducted in Part 1.
The rescuer must have the Aphel-touched trait.
How did they encounter the Aphels? Was it during the chase or after the arrival at the Hive? How did the Aphels form a connection to them? What was their experience of the attempted conversion? After they go rampant, how do they act?

Hive route: conversion into Aphelion and eligibility for the next Hive route Story Quest.
Academy route: Eligibility for the next Academy route Story Quest.
Destabilized route: rampant status and eligibility for the next Destabilized route Story Quest.
Route: Hive
Kidnapped Phelions are brought to the hivemind core semi-conscious, where they are put under immense pressure to try to convert them to the Aphel hive. You have three options: they experience conversion, they become rampant, or they manage to resist.
Conversion: the Phelion's highlight color becomes red and their armor color becomes gray for this quest. When the Academy arrives at the Hive, your Phelion will be hostile to others.
At the end of the rescue operation, they are subdued and taken back to the Academy.
Resist: They manage to break free on their own and wander the hive. They learn much about the nature of Aphels—what they do, why they exist—though they are constantly chased by Aphels in the process, until the Academy Phelions arrive and rescue them.
Regardless of the route, the Phelions in this route are able to witness the interior of the Hive. Perhaps surprisingly, it is not an endless expanse of gray and red—instead, it is an endlessly vast complex of expansive rooms with simulated ecosystems. There are all manners of creatures within these chambers, appearing fairly normal... save for having red pupils or other indicators of Aphel fragments within them.
The Phelion(s) used must have completed the Invasion quest with their abduction depicted.
You may involve Phelions that are not eligible, but they would not qualify for rewards.
You must have a Toyhou.se account, and you must be in the Auspicium Discord server with the Phelion role or a superseding one, such as Species or Enlightened.

You can optionally depict one or more rescuers, Phelions affiliated with the Academy who participate in the rescue operations. This is considered a secondary role.
Rewards depend on the content depicted in your entry.
