The Main Story is a series of Story Quests involving an overarching plotline for the Phelion species.
There may be an Event Period for Story Quests during which additional rewards are available and requirements are less strict.
If any Event Period is active, you can "quick-start" the Story Quests with a Development Quest. If there are no active Event Periods, you will need to complete a Starter Quest to participate in the Story Quests.
If the Event Period of a specific quest is over: you cannot volunteer your Phelion for official story content or request to lock ownership for an entry submitted for that quest. All other rewards, including traits, are still available.
Character development note: without participation in quests, you can mention a Phelion's role in the Main Story so long as they are always on the Academy-side and never become Aphel-touched; you also cannot get quest-exclusive rewards without full participation.
There are three "major routes" with different additional final rewards: Academy, Destabilized, and Hive. You need to own only one Phelion to take the normal Academy route; you must own at least two to take two routes, and you must own at least four to take all three routes. The Academy route has only the standard final rewards; the Destabilized route allows you to have a Volatile Phelion (monstrous form), and the Hive route allows you have a Chromatic Phelion (multiple color palettes).
Entries to the quest can involve multiple Phelions, or you can have multiple entries for different Phelions.
The following quests are in their Event Period.
The following quests have yet to be released.
Main Story Quests have a standard set of requirements that are typical for quest entries. You will be able to submit your choice between artwork, a comic, or writing.
You are permitted to collaborate on Main Story Quest entries with up to one other person. Alternatively, you can each submit your own full entries separately, even while incorporating others' characters.
The piece must be clean artwork, though rougher artstyles are acceptable so long as the piece does not look incomplete. Requirements:
fully colored
A full background with a decent amount of detail. The environment should be identifiable and there should be a clear middleground where the characters are; the foreground and background areas can be simple and/or blurred.
Shading and relevant texture/effects should be present.
The part of the character(s) drawn depends on how many characters are in main roles and whether or not it is a collab.
Collab: 2 - fullbody or almost, 3 - partial bodies (thighs-up or more), 4+ - halfbodies (waist-up or more)
Solo: 1 - fullbody or almost, 2 - partial bodies (thighs-up or more), 3+ - halfbodies (waist-up or more)
Quality:
It should have at least some different shade values. If it is monochrome, different grays can be used to indicate different objects/colors, for instance.
It does not need to be shaded.
The finish level should be somewhat decent; clean sketches or rough lineart is acceptable, but it should not consist of very messy sketches.
If panels are done in clean color (no shading necessary), only half the number of panels are required.
At least one panel needs a full background with decent amount of detail. The environment should be identifiable and there should be a clear middleground where the characters are; the foreground and background areas can be simple and/or blurred. Otherwise, backgrounds are not required but environments should be made as necessary to get a sense of where they are.
You are welcome to draw extra panels that do not meet quality requirements as necessary for the narrative.
The minimum number of panels depends on how many characters are in main roles and whether or not it is a collab. The character should be drawn as at least a headshot, and copy-pasted panels with minor edits do not count. Backgrounds can be reused.
Collab: 12 panels for two characters. Add 2 panels for each additional character.
Solo: 8 panels for one character. Add 2 panels for each additional character.
The minimum word count depends on how many characters are in main roles (if they are in secondary roles, you do not need to count them) and whether or not it is a collab. Each character in a main role should have some amount of focus on them (i.e. a part in their POV or heavy involvement in the plot); a short appearance and/or a few lines would not be accepted. You can have timeskips, multiple scenes, shifting POVs, etc.
Collab: 2500 words minimum for two characters. Add 500 words for each additional character.
Solo: 1500 words minimum for one character. Add 500 words for each additional character.
The artwork must be clean and at least colored with the Phelions' Lightcore color; the rest can be in grayscale. The background can be simple but should suggest some kind of environment. Shading is not required. Rougher artstyles are acceptable, so long as the piece does not look incomplete.
The part of the character(s) drawn depends on how many characters there are and whether or not it is a collab.
Collab: 2 - fullbody or almost, 3 - partial bodies (thighs-up or more), 4+ - halfbodies (waist-up or more)
Solo: 1 - fullbody or almost, 2 - partial bodies (thighs-up or more), 3+ - halfbodies (waist-up or more)
For writing, the minimum word count depends on how many characters are in main roles (if they are in secondary roles, you do not need to count them) and whether or not it is a collab.
Collab: 1500 words minimum for two characters. Add 200 words for each additional character.
Solo: 800 words minimum for one character. Add 200 words for each additional character.
If you submit a Main Story Quest entry during an event period:
You have the option to volunteer your Phelion for official content.
You may request that your Phelion's ownership be permanently locked to you.
Phelion official content can include interlude chapters (writings or other story media between quests) and/or a possible major project (may be comic, web novel, animation, short film, etc.). Note that this is not a guarantee of usage, and they may only make a minor appearance. I do not know how long it will be before I pursue the major project.
You have additional options for permissions:
Yes: You volunteer your Phelion for usage. I will notify you if you do. Please provide all socials you would wish to be tagged in and indicate your primary preferred one. I use only the information you included in your entry/entries as a reference. I will notify you prior to using them and may or may not check with you while the project is in progress, but I will notify when the part is complete/posted.
Ask: if I use your Phelion in official content, I must discuss how I will use them with you, go over their dialogue and actions with you, etc.
No: You do not volunteer your Phelion for usage in official content.
You may request that your Phelion's ownership be permanently locked to you. This would be indicated on the masterlist. This option is only available if you volunteer your Phelion for official content. Note that the Phelion will be locked to you if I decide to use them.
The "volunteer ticket" is only valid so long as the Phelion is still owned by you by the time I start. The Phelion will be ownership-locked to you if I decide to use them. You must also still be in the Auspicium Discord server with the Phelion role or a superseding one—if you leave the server, your ticket will be revoked. If you re-join, you may ask to reinstate the "ticket."
