Basic Concept Symbiotic biomechanical entities
Acquisition Adopts, commissions, prompts (see info)
The Phelions (singular: Phelion) are a closed species created by me, Auspice. They are symbiotic biomechanical entities, largely humans who have fused with a fragment of a mysterious meteor of alien origins that exploded into countless fragments over Earth many years ago.
I have a channel for the Phelions in my Discord server.
In 2032, a meteor was headed towards Earth. The situation was dire; there was little to be done and the expected damage was expected to be catastrophic. Everyone prepared for the end of everything, and yet—
When the meteor breached the atmosphere, it exploded into countless microscopic fragments, scattering across the world.
No one knew what to make of it for quite some time. And then, the Phelions began to emerge. This refers to the individuals who have assimilated a fragment of the meteor, developing various strange abilities including telepathy with other Phelions, telekinesis, creation and manipulation of hard-light matter, etc.
It was in 2045 that one Phelion calling themself Kaluin discovered the Shift. An ability to alter their entire physical form into a biomechanical entity capable of much stronger abilities, in addition to requiring very little sustenance to live—being sustained mostly by sunlight, and very efficiently.
Kaluin spoke of a collective will of the meteor, and other Phelions echoed a similar sentiment. There was, they said, an impetus to go into space. So they gathered together in an organization they dubbed Periapsis and ascended to the stars, building an orbital base by Earth to be their base of operations for study of their kind, space exploration, and community. This base is often referred to as the Academy.
Another ten years passed before the first Aphels attacked. Alien beings, startlingly similar to Phelions, who descended upon the Periapsis base and Earth. They seemed to specifically target Shift-capable Phelions, being passive to other beings. This is when Phelions discovered their offensive potential, fighting off the invaders.
Most Phelions thus joined the Academy, and the Academy in turn developed different divisions that they could join: Research, Exploration, and Defense. Phelions could also choose to stay at the Academy without joining any, perhaps for protection or just to stay within a community of those like them. Those who did wish to join a division first had to become a student with a focus on their desired division before joining the official ranks.
And so the Phelions pushed forward, studying the nature of their existence, defending themselves against the growing threat of the Aphels, and expanding through space to seek out the truth of their origin.
The Masterlist (ML) is a record of all official Phelions. You can also view it as a Google Sheet here.
You can change the name, pronouns, and roles of your Phelion at any time; updating the ML is optional.
You can also change your Phelion's "draw permissions" to one of the following:
Allowed: anyone is allowed to draw your Phelion without asking for permission first, in any situation they like.
Semi-Allowed: anyone is allowed to draw your Phelion without asking for permission first for certain cases; they must ask for other situations. You can specify which of the following are allowed:
Solo: others can draw your Phelion as gift art depicting only your Phelion.
Prompts: others can use your Phelion for any prompts.
Relations: others can draw your Phelion with other characters your Phelion has an established relation with.
Interactions: others can draw your Phelion with any other characters.
Ask: others are required to ask before drawing your Phelion.
Prohibited: others are not allowed to draw your Phelion.
When drawing others' Phelions, it is asked that you respect the Phelion's lore—do not draw them in offensive, unpleasant, and/or out-of-character situations, and respect the owner's permissions and preferences.
If you wish to update these details, please send an update in Phelion ML Submissions of species-submissions in the Auspicium server, or to Auspice's DMs on Discord or Toyhou.se.
Since Phelions are capable of altering their forms easily, minor masterlist alterations are generally not allowed. However, you can draw their design flexibly.
You may draw them with extra limbs, wings, tendrils, etc. Note that the black/dark parts of their bodies are highly amorphous, and they can create solid light structures of their "highlight color." Their "armor" parts are much more consistent, but they can change fluidly as well, usually in minor ways. You can add wings (with or without armor parts) without issue, as that is one thing that many Phelions have but hide most of the time for convenience.
If you still wish to update your Phelion's official design (such as changing their colors or significantly changing their appearance), you may update the ML image once a year per Phelion, resetting on January 1 each year. please use the following form:

Design Changes:
In the gallery, please upload an updated ML (masterlist) image and a reference image. The ML image must be viewable without a watermark by Auspice.
Masterlist Image Requirements:
Must be rendered digitally
Fullbody with no cropping
Fully colored and shaded
Simple/gradient background
Can have up to one additional view of the back
Reference Image Requirements:
At least one fullbody (no cropping) with flat color/no shading
A color palette
Transparent or solid color background
The "simplest" reference image is just the ML image in flat color with a color palette and the background removed. You are welcome to add any extra refs, closeups, or additional views to the reference image.
Do not modify and replace the original official image, but you can make edits and upload a new image. You are permitted to make minor edits (changing colors, adding/changing some elements of the design, etc.) to Phelion ML and reference artwork made by Auspice.
Submit the form to Phelion ML Submissions of species-submissions in the Auspicium server, or to Auspice's DMs on Discord or Toyhou.se. If Auspice approves, they will update the ML and request the image to be added to the Redesign gallery.
Auspice's general terms of service apply.
As Phelions are part of a closed species, you may not design your own unless you have a MYO.
The Toyhouse profile of a Phelion is an "official" token of existence for the character, so do not delete the profile or any official reference images. You may, of course, edit the character profile and the fields as you see fit. If you alter the name, please let me know so that I can update the masterlist. The link to the Phelion species info must be somewhere in the profile as well, whether in a field as I typically do or in the description/profile.
You may create non-commercial content of your characters in this world, including art, writing, videos, plushies, etc. However, you must credit me as the creator of the species for any work shared publicly/with others.
You may do commissions of Phelions and commission others for work of your characters, but you may not sell physical merchandise without express permission from me. Any one-off physical goods for yourself are fine - if you are getting a print or merch that uses art not made by you, make sure to get the permission of the creator first.
Phelions exist in a particular Earth universe, and they can freely interact with other characters in this universe (such as other Phelions) without issue. They may interact with other aliens without much trouble either, so long as there is no conflict of a different Earth. It is possible for them to canonically interact with magical beings and other beings from other dimensions, but note that they cannot cross dimensions using their own power. It is very difficult for a magical being to spend much time in the Phelion universe (as this is a "science fiction" universe, not a "fantasy" universe, and it is preferred to primarily keep it that way), but Phelions can leave their universe and return without issue (so long as they have a mode of dimensional travel). You may, however, have non-canon and alternate universe interactions for fun.
You may mention unofficial Phelions in a character's backstory for development, but you may not design/draw them or have anyone else do so. You can, of course, make them official via custom or such. They should still adhere to the general lore, but they could be dead or alive, deeply involved or just offhandedly.
You are free to make other characters in the Phelion universe, including humans with or without fragments. If they have a fragment, they cannot Shift unless you get an official design.
Additionally, you are welcome to "complexify" your Phelion's design—adding details and such to the armor, body, etc. This can simply be an artistic rendition or a form your Phelion actually takes, sometimes or often. You may make a different "main" reference even though the ML image may remain unchanged.
If you have a sketch Phelion design, you are allowed to "draw over" to polish and make any design alterations, or draw them entirely anew. You should not remove any existing colors and you should not change the highlight color.
You are permitted to do a redesign, but this must be approved by Auspice. See the section on ML Updates above.
You may gift, trade or resell a Phelion for no more than the original price + commission/paid work. You must notify Auspice, and if you are transferring to someone not on TH, the character must be transferred back to Auspice. If you do not have a TH and are transferring to someone who does, please let Auspice know as well so that they can transfer the character to them.
A Phelion can be used as an "AU" (alternate universe) of an existing OC. However, they cannot be used as alternate forms / a shapeshift of an existing OC, as that would muddle the lore.
"Voiding" in this context refers to removing a character from the world so that they can be used freely in any other context. It is not permitted. Note that non-canon "alternate universes" of a character are allowed.
In general, please try not to plagiarize the lore. While taking inspiration cannot realistically be stopped, it does make me (Auspice) uncomfortable if elements of the lore are taken directly. If people want to use my lore, I'd want them to join the world I put in the effort to make it for. I spend a considerable amount of time contemplating and organizing my lore for the sake of allowing others to participate in it, so I ask that you do so on my terms.
Please see details in Auspice's general ToS.
